Bob Millard

Saskatchewan,
Canada

Robert Walter Millard was born in 1947 in Winnipeg, Manitoba of Metis ancestry. He was adopted by an aunt, and was raised in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan.

After losing partial use of one hand in an industrial accident, Millard attended a retraining and therapy program at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, Manitoba, and was introduced to the world of artmaking. He soon established himself as a portrait and landscape painter.

In 1987, when Pope John Paul the Second visited Fort Simpson, NWT, the Federation of Saskatchewan Indians chose two of Millard’s paintings as gifts for the Pope and for Governor-General Jean Suave.

Millard’s work has been exhibited widely throughout Canada, and is in many private and corporate collections.

Bob Millard died in February, 2014, in Regina, Saskatchewan, at the age of 66.
